This crime has grown exponentially over the last decade with no signs of slowing in the near or distant future. The most direct and effective approach to combating this crime is through education... education of Law Enforcement as well as the General Public.
Over the three-day summit, officers will learn of the five most common areas of Identity Theft plus emerging areas, investigative techniques and procedures, reporting standards from federal agencies, and how to conduct an Identity Theft Awareness Night™ in their community. Materials will be provided to attendees in order to conduct this training.
The ideal officer for a department to send would be financial crimes - white collar crimes - street crimes - fraud investigator - gang officer - or training officer, simply because this crime is more far reaching than most departments can imagine. Approaching the summit with the mind-set of the far reaching impact this crime has will greatly increase the Knowledge, Awareness, and Education on this crime for communities throughout the United States.
